Description
The Technical Assistance (TA) seeks to support the Federation of Women Entrepreneurs Associations of Nepal (FWEAN) by operationalizing its e-commerce platform and associated app and building the capacity of FWEAN Business Advisors to provide advisory services to the FWEAN network members at large.
The TA will include the conduct of a market diagnostic report to understand FWEAN’s current digital initiatives (web and app) and opportunities within Nepal’s e-commerce landscape; the development of an e-commerce strategy and business plan for FWEAN and implementation coaching; development of teaching modules on e-commerce and digital marketing for women entrepreneurs and training FWEAN’s Business Advisers.
FWEAN is the apex body for all women entrepreneur associations in Nepal and is a focal point for interaction among its members and government agencies. It has over 3,000 members across 59 of Nepal’s 77 districts.
Problem being addressed by CTIF
Businesses in Nepal face multiple challenges to success. Women-led businesses contend with economic and social barriers, while those outside the capital struggle with connectivity, resulting in geographical exclusion patterns. For many business owners, these barriers overlap and intersect, culminating in a complex landscape within which they strive to establish and scale their operations. Capacity-building, advocacy and e-commerce together provide potential solutions to these issues.
The TA will also strengthen FWEAN’s ability to provide valuable services to its members, strengthening the organization and its capacity to support and advocate for Nepali women entrepreneurs.
Development Dimension
This TA will contribute to the economic empowerment of a diverse range of women entrepreneurs in Nepal by enabling them to engage in e-commerce to scale their businesses and realize inclusive growth. This, in turn, contributes to poverty reduction directly and indirectly among women entrepreneurs and their networks.
